Editorial Standards & Policy

How We Keep Our Content Honest & Accurate

Every article on PlayWithStock goes through a strict editorial process before it reaches you. Here is exactly what that process looks like — no shortcuts, no exceptions.

Research Process
How Articles Are Researched

Every article on PlayWithStock starts with a research phase — not a keyword tool or trending topic list. Our goal is to answer the real question an Indian investor is asking, with accuracy and depth.

🎯

Topic Identification

Topics are selected based on what real investors genuinely need to understand — SIP, mutual funds, tax planning, stock market basics, inflation impact, and more. We focus on evergreen, high-value personal finance topics relevant to the Indian context.

📚

Primary Research

Research begins with authoritative primary sources — SEBI regulations, RBI guidelines, AMFI data, BSE/NSE disclosures, government finance ministry publications, and FSSAI (for health-related content). Secondary sources such as peer-reviewed financial research are also consulted.

🔍

Data Verification

All statistics, figures, interest rates, tax slabs, return percentages, and regulatory limits are cross-checked against at least two independent reliable sources before being included in any article. If a figure cannot be verified, it is not published.

✍️

Writing for Clarity

Articles are written in plain, jargon-free language designed for the everyday Indian investor — not for financial professionals. Complex concepts are broken down step by step, with real-world examples from the Indian market wherever possible.

Editorial Review

Every article is reviewed by Pranab Jyoti Barman before publication for accuracy, completeness, tone, and educational value. Articles that do not meet the editorial standard are revised or held back until they do.

📌 Our Research Commitment

PlayWithStock does not publish AI-generated content without human editorial review. Every article reflects genuine research and editorial judgment by a real person with over 10 years of experience in Indian financial markets.

02
Accuracy Standards
Fact-Checking Process

Finance is a "your money" topic. A single wrong figure about tax slabs, SIP returns, or loan rules can cost a reader real money. That is why we take fact-checking seriously on every article — not just headlines or major claims, but every statistic and every example.

🧮

Every Number Is Verified

All numerical data — interest rates, tax brackets, LTCG/STCG rules, SIP averages, inflation figures — are verified against official government or regulatory sources before publishing. We never rely on second-hand statistics without tracing them to the original.

🔗

Sources Are Cited or Disclosed

Where publicly citable, sources are linked or referenced within the article. Where sources are regulatory documents consulted during research, they are disclosed in the article's source note. We do not publish claims we cannot trace to a credible origin.

⚖️

Opinions Are Clearly Labeled

PlayWithStock separates factual reporting from editorial opinion. Where an article includes a perspective, analysis, or recommendation, it is clearly labeled as such — so readers can distinguish between "this is what the data shows" and "this is our view on what the data means."

🚫

What We Do Not Publish

We do not publish unverified predictions, guaranteed return claims, "hot tips," or content that could be mistaken for personalized financial advice. All content carries a disclaimer directing readers to consult a qualified financial advisor for decisions specific to their situation.

03
Content Freshness
Update Policy

Financial rules, tax slabs, interest rates, and regulations change every year — sometimes mid-year. PlayWithStock is committed to keeping published content accurate and up to date. Here is how we handle updates.

Every Article Shows a "Last Updated" Date

All articles display the date they were last reviewed or updated, so readers always know how fresh the information is. A published date alone is not enough in finance — the updated date matters more.

Annual Review for Evergreen Content

Core articles covering SIP, mutual funds, tax planning, and market basics are reviewed at least once per year — typically after the Union Budget, SEBI regulation updates, or RBI policy changes — and updated to reflect the current rules.

Immediate Updates for Regulatory Changes

When SEBI, RBI, or the Government of India announces a significant change that affects content on this site — new tax rules, revised SIP limits, changed LTCG thresholds — the relevant articles are updated as quickly as possible, typically within 7 days of the announcement.

Reader-Triggered Updates

If a reader contacts us through the Contact page to flag outdated content, we investigate and update within 5 business days if the flagged information is confirmed to be inaccurate or stale.

Update Notes on Significantly Revised Articles

When an article is materially updated — not just a date refresh but a meaningful change in content — we add an editor's note at the top of the article explaining what changed and why, so returning readers are not confused.

04
Transparency & Accountability
Correction Policy

We make every effort to publish accurate content, but errors can happen. When they do, we correct them transparently — not silently. Hiding mistakes is not something PlayWithStock does.

🪟

Transparent, Visible Corrections

If a factual error is identified in a published article, the correction is made and clearly noted with an "Editor's Correction" label at the top of the article, stating what was wrong and what the correct information is. We do not silently overwrite errors.

⏱️

48-Hour Correction Commitment

Once a factual error is confirmed by our editorial team — whether identified internally or flagged by a reader — the correction is published within 48 hours. For serious errors involving financial figures or regulatory rules, we aim to correct within 24 hours.

📩

How to Report an Error

Found something that doesn't look right? Email us at support@playwithstock.com with the article URL and the specific claim you believe is incorrect. Include any source you're referencing, if available. We investigate every report seriously.

🙏

Reader Acknowledgement

When a reader's tip leads to a confirmed correction, we acknowledge their contribution in the correction note (with their permission). Accurate content benefits every reader — we appreciate readers who help us improve.

🛡️ Correction vs. Update — What's the Difference?

A correction fixes something that was factually wrong at the time of publication. An update reflects new information that has emerged since publication (such as a changed regulation). Both are handled transparently, but labeled differently so readers understand the distinction.

05
Information Integrity
Source Verification Standards

Not all information on the internet is accurate — especially in finance, where outdated or incorrect figures can mislead readers into poor decisions. PlayWithStock applies a strict source hierarchy to determine what information we trust and publish.

✅ Trusted Source Tiers

  • Tier 1 — Official Government & Regulatory Bodies: SEBI, RBI, Ministry of Finance, Income Tax Department, IRDAI, AMFI, BSE, NSE, PFRDA. These are our highest-trust sources and the first reference for any regulatory claim.
  • Tier 2 — Statutory & Research Publications: Budget documents, Economic Survey, RBI Annual Reports, SEBI Annual Reports, peer-reviewed financial research journals.
  • Tier 3 — Reputed Financial Institutions: HDFC, SBI, ICICI, Zerodha, Groww, and other regulated entities' official disclosures and product documentation.
  • Tier 4 — Quality Financial Media: The Hindu Business Line, Mint, Economic Times, Moneycontrol — cited only when primary sources are unavailable, and cross-checked against Tier 1/2 where possible.
🚫 Sources We Do Not Use

We do not cite anonymous blogs, unverified social media posts, "guru" YouTube channels, WhatsApp forwards, or any source that cannot be traced to a named, accountable author or institution. We also do not use AI-generated content as a source — AI can be wrong, and finance requires accuracy.
